About House of Berseri

Art for your inner world.

House of Berseri is an independent art studio by Kaelee Nelson, creating original abstract and mixed-media artwork, surreal collage, prints, and objects designed to make you look twice — and feel something.

The name comes from the Indonesian word “berseri,” often used to describe something radiant, glowing, or lit from within. That idea became the foundation for a studio interested not only in what we put on our walls or wear on our bodies, but in what those things reflect back to us.

Made to make you feel.

I don’t make art to simply fill a wall or complete an outfit. I’m interested in the pieces that stay with you: the ones you interpret differently depending on the day, that start conversations, or put language to something you haven’t quite been able to name.

My work moves between abstract acrylic, fluid art, surreal collage, and mixed media. Some pieces begin with an idea. Most begin with a feeling. I follow color, texture, tension, instinct, and accident until something starts to emerge.

The result isn’t meant to tell you what to think. It’s an invitation to notice what you do.

Why Berseri exists.

We live with an extraordinary amount of input — algorithms, advertisements, expectations, opinions, noise. It’s easy to consume constantly without noticing what any of it is doing to us.

House of Berseri is my small rebellion against autopilot.

It is a place for curiosity over certainty, creation over consumption, presence over distraction, and connection over performance. A reminder that what we surround ourselves with becomes part of the conversation we’re having with ourselves.

From my studio to your world.

House of Berseri began with original artwork and has grown into prints, wearable pieces, small objects, and in-person creative experiences. Originals remain one of one. Other pieces are produced in small quantities or made to order whenever possible.

Whatever form the work takes, the intention stays the same: make something worth noticing, keeping, talking about, or passing along.

Stay curious. Feel everything. Live berseri.
